what have we been up to?

14 Nov

Our weeks are always packed full of activities including preschool, mops, work (for me), gymnastics, soccer, church and all kinds of adventures. This past weekend my brother invited us to go bowling with him and his sweet girlfriend. I had never taken my kids bowling before so I thought I would try it. I think I will wait to take them again :) They both liked it but holy heck it took almost a whole min for their ball to get down the lane and when it wasn’t their turn they were off dancing in the aisles (which would have been fine had there not been other teams trying to bowl right next to us) or they were up by the machines trying to force stuffed animals out of that claw game. I had not been bowling since high school so it was fun to go, and I dominated hahahhaha. Kate and Emmett thought the air vent was more interesting than bowling, and would stand with their face over the vent and laugh. All in all it was a fun night, but I don’t see us repeating this even anytime soon.

A couple weeks ago we were driving by our neighbors house and noticed a bus in their driveway, Carson asked why it was there and if he could go on it. I told him he would have to ask our neighbor. A few days later our neighbor pulled up in front of our house and honked the horn. The kids went running out to see the bus with the doors open right in front of our house. We love our neighbors, they have a little girl Kates age. We got on the bus for a ride to the grocery store. It was pretty fun for the kids and even funnier for me when we went to get back on the bus in the haggen parking lot to find that the bus would not start. So here we sat, 3 kids 4 adults on a full sized school bus. We were only sitting for about 20 mins when my neighbor got the bus started and brought us back home.

Kate is such a sweetie, she talks to her babies all day long and absolutely loves to read to them. She plays by herself better than any kid I know. I caught her reading to her babies sunday morning and snapped a picture before she looked at me and stopped.

My dad’s birthday dinner, my dad is such a great dad and grandpa. I have learned so much from him and am so thankful for this wonderful example of sacrifice. He has always showed us kids that he loves and adores my mom. My kids love going to bama and umpa’s house to play.

Preschool Halloween Celebration

31 Oct

Carson’s preschool did a halloween celebration today and I got to go listen to him sing 4 songs with the other kids in his class. He was so cute and sang all the words to the songs the little mermaid girl and the bumble bee along with the fireman are some of his friends who he always talks about.

First Preschool Field Trip

24 Oct

Carson’s Preschool went to Boxx today to the pumpkin patch and had a great time. I went a long with him and planned to bring Kate to my sisters so I could focus on him and just have some time with him but last min Kate got a runny nose so I took her too. She was terrible I really wanted to leave her out in the pumpkin patch for some “lucky” person to find. I think she might be getting her molars in cause it took about an hour to put her to sleep last night and for those who know her she is asleep before I even close her door normally. So the trip was a challenge for me, to say the least.

Carson had a great time and got to ride on the train and pick out a big pumpkin. I have to say stoney ridge was my favorite pumpkin patch and boxx took the cake, the guy was great, the kids rode on the train for about 15 mins and he was rolling over pumpkins and going four wheeling in the mud and all kinds of stuff. The kids all got to play at the playground and ride on the wagon out to the field to get their pumpkin and our class was the only ones there. I must say too, what a beautiful day for a pumpkin patch!

Please pray I don’t “accidentally” forget Kate in her room for the rest of the day:) hahahah happy October all.

It’s ok to be messy

21 Oct

My kids are funny, they don’t really like to be dirty or have messy hands or They ask for napkins when they eat and when I first introduced finger paints Carson would only use one finger and clean that finger after every new color. It took a while before he would use both hands and go at it. I can remember last year when we stated to carve pumpkins and once he found out that pulling out all the seeds and insides of the pumpkin was part of this process he was less interested and wanted to wipe his hands after every touch. This year it started that same way with both him and Kate. I quickly told them both that this was part of carving pumpkins and tried to show them both how fun it was to squeeze the pumpkin through their fingers and count the seeds while we take them out. He soon forgot about the mess and started enjoying the process. Carson’s pumpkin is the scary face one and Kate’s is the smily face one. Have a great, safe Halloween :)

pumpkins and bossy girls

18 Oct

So my last post was all about Kate’s big birthday and her being a big two year old. Well, I would give it all to go back to younger days with her lately. She is a bossy little bee and sassy and throws fits like nobodies business. Peter had to leave church with her last week cause she wouldn’t stop yelling and by yelling I mean screaming, they could hear her in the chapel and we were in the mothers room. I am trying to work with her on it but it is a process. Here she is bossing the chickens around at the pumpkin patch. telling them “no, I no feed you, I feed the goats”. I love Carson’s look like, what is your problem lady.

My all time favorite place in the fall is the pumpkin patch. I love the smell of apples I love the bright colors and the dirt and cool crisp air.

10 Oct

Kate was born :) she is so stinking funny this girl and even though I am still in a tissy about her locking me out of the house this morning she is truly so sweet. I can’t believe how special she is, and in her own way. She is all about the lipstick (thanks andrea) and she misses her brother so much when he is at preschool she can hardly stand it. She knows what she wants and how to get it :)

This weekend was pack full of fun for her and for me too. Friday I had a party for her with some of her friends at the gym that I work at. She got to run around, jump, play on the mats and eat some snacks

Friday night my mom offered to watch Carson overnight, well I dropped off Kate too :) thanks mom it was a nice break and the kids love it there. When I got there in the morning to get them they were not ready to come home cause my dad makes the best breakfasts in the world and they were enjoying the fact that grandma was playing dress up with them.

Saturday Peter’s parents came up to wish Kate a happy birthday and we went to dinner. Kate is so loving the gift bags it’s like she had 20 new purses.

I went to a garage sale on Sat and found some good finds, my kids would play games all day long.

Sunday we had her party with the family and as always there was plenty of food and family and kids there to make it a great day. If you want you can enter my Princess cake into a contest I don’t mind :) I was actually very happy with it, and have more ideas for next year :)

Ready for a quiet weekend where I stay in jammies all weekend long!

Fall is in the air

2 Oct

I love love love the fall, The holidays the weather (crisp mornings and sunny afternoons, not rain) the start of school. The kids went to our wonderful nursery leaders house to pick out a pumpkin and feed her goats. They had a great time. You might notice Carson’s choice of clothing. I really try to advice and then let my kids (for the most part) make their own decisions. I think it is good practice for when they are adults and have to make decisions, some kids are told what to do until they are 18 and then set free and make some pretty stinky decisions. So anyway, that was off on a tangent, but I told him before we left that he would want to wear pants because the weather was not that nice out but he said “no these are my pumpkin color shorts”. So when he got to his nursery leaders house and froze I figured it was a lesson well learned. The next day seemed to prove this point. We were headed to the park and he had his shorts on I said “Carson, it’s sunny but not warm out you might want pants”. He ran straight to his room and changed. It made me happy to know that he was able to make a better choice without fighting with me about it.

They are asking to carve the pumpkins, but I think I will wait a week or two for that :)

Such cute pictures and such cute kids.

every girl should own at least one pair

Of Sassy Red Shoes :)

I had the best birthday weekend with friends last weekend. We went shopping and ate out and hot tubed all weekend long and I can’t wait to do it again. I bought some great things that I wouldn’t have bought without these crazy girls. I love these girls, and this trip was exactly what I needed! I love these shoes and I am not a heel person, in fact, before these I never owned a pair of heels, partly because I just can’t walk in them and partly because I can’t chase 2 year olds around in them and partly because I only dress up once a week for church and didn’t see the need. When I got home I put the shoes and a dress that I had gotten while shopping on. I came out to show peter and Carson said “oh mom, you look so pretty”. When I changed into my pajamas Carson said “oh mom, can you wear your dress to bed”? I am so thankful for my wonderful mom and aunts and grandma who all gave me birthday money before I left so I could go and spend my heart out without my husband having a heart attack. I am thankful for Peter for watching the kids while I was gone, they love dad time. I enjoyed every min of my time away with such good friends.

Carson is still loving preschool. His class is doing Dinosaurs this month as their theme. I have never been into dinosaurs and not cause I am a girl cause I like trucks and animals and other boy stuff but dinosaurs just always seemed so… what’s the word… like something I had never seen and just not tangible to me so it is hard for me to care or get my mind around something so out there and amazing. So I haven’t really introduced him to dinosaurs but he is loving learning about them in his class. He made this cute diorama and was very proud of it. Not much else is happening around here, loving this fall weather today though.

Carson’s best week of the year

15 Sep

The first week of Sept was by far Carson’s favorite week of the year. Peter took the week off, for those of you who know us you know this is something that NEVER happens, Peter works very hard and enjoys his job but has a personality of a perfectionist which could not be more opposite my personality . Peter does enjoy taking time off but finds it hard cause his job is so demanding he always has more work to go back to after a day off so that can be frustrating. Anyway, he was able to sneak away for a couple days last week and we enjoyed every min with him. I started out having a whole week planned of activities like the zoo and the watersides and parks and other stuff but I new he needed to just relax and I knew the weather was going to be the hottest of the summer and why would we spend money to go to the watersides and zoo when we get both going to my moms pool :) The kids love swimming a playing together and I love floating in the pool keeping one eye open to make sure little miss Kate is not getting to close to the edge while her and Emmett play their own game of throwing every toy possible into the deep end of the pool for the older kids to fetch out.

We spent some time at the park feeding the animals and playing on the playground. Carson’s favorite thing to do right now is hang and climb he loves bars and he does all kind of tricks on them. He has some major arm muscles.

We spend a lot of time at our neighbors house but I don’t feel bad cause their little girl spends even more time here and we love her. Carson likes to go there and play on her swing set and slide into her pool at the bottom of the slide.

Carson’s big event for the week was the start of preschool. He loves it there and was more ready to go than I was to let him go. He told me the other day that his job was the bell leader, so he got to be first in line and he learned about dinosaurs and has a pet named tucket. It’s so hard to get info out of him when he gets home but I know he loves it there. Don’t mind the homeless lolling little girl next to him, this is such a funny picture of her, she really looks messy and like she just woke up :) poor thing screamed her head off the 2nd day we left carson, not because she wanted carson but rather cause she wanted to stay at that fun place.

Well fall has started and I can’t be sad at all, I love the holidays in fall and the crisp air and the pumpkin patch and my warm drinks. Happy Fall everyone.

You know you are a kid when…

5 Sep

You can spend 7 hours at the beach and still find new adventures to do. These kids had so much fun and got so much sun. They kayaked and swam and crabbed and played in the sand for hours today.

This is a 2 person kayak for all those who were confused about the new 5 person kayak that they had not seen on the market.

The captain relaxing :)

Happy Labor Day to all
